Genesis Building Controls Ltd ("Genesis", "we", "us") operates a building management system (BMS) alarm-notification service that sends alarm alerts by SMS text message. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. Contact us at support@genesiscontrols.ca or 250-448-5001.

Information we collect

When you opt in to SMS alerts (via our opt-in form, or a written/verbal request), we collect: your name, mobile phone number, optionally your email address, and the building / BMS site you are associated with. We also log basic submission metadata (timestamp, IP address) to prevent abuse.

How we use your information

We use it solely to: (1) send you BMS building-alarm SMS alerts you have opted in to receive; (2) manage your subscription, opt-in and opt-out; and (3) respond to HELP requests and support enquiries. We do not use your mobile number for marketing.

SMS consent and sharing

Mobile opt-in and consent to receive SMS messages will not be shared with any third party or affiliate for marketing purposes. We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share your mobile number only with the telecommunications provider that delivers the messages on our behalf (our SMS carrier), strictly to transmit the alerts, and with no one else for marketing.

Message frequency, rates, HELP and STOP

Alerts are event-driven and recurring, up to approximately 20 messages per day depending on building alarm activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or STOP at any time to opt out. See our SMS Terms for full program details.

Data retention and security

We keep opt-in records and message logs only as long as needed to operate the alarm service, meet legal/carrier obligations, and demonstrate consent. Data is stored on access-controlled systems and secrets are encrypted at rest.

Your choices

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any alert (immediate), by using the opt-out option on our opt-in / opt-out form, or by contacting support. To reach a person, email support@genesiscontrols.ca or call 250-448-5001.
